OTO is a family and friend mastodon instance that is intended to allow you to feel comfortable using.
Use it as your very own personal account and follow whatever tickles your fancy.
With that in mind, please take note of the following to make your experience is a good one:
There are three timelines that come with Mastodon (Home,Local,Federated)

| Home will only show your personal timeline. | |
| This includes your toots/boosts, direct messages, and toots/boosts from those you follow. | |
| Local | |
| Local is the Public timeline of posts that anyone on OTO publish toots as Public. | |
| Federated | |
| This timeline shows everything from around the Fediverse that other people have set as Public. | |
| The Fediverse is comprised of various servers from around the world. | |
| This also means that some posts could be of nsfw nature. |
Since Federated posts can be of nfsw nature it is a very difficult decision for every server administrator on the moderation of such content.
And, since accounts will only be issued to 18 or older (or with permission from parent[s]); it is the responsibility of the account holder to utilize the moderation functions available like filters, mute, and block. Report any instances or accounts of hate to be suspended from OTO along with any servers that think they can take your posts for whatever; like threads.net.
Therefore, it is the account holder that will maintain what they want to see in their feeds and report anything that violates this instance's rules:
| * To prevent nsfw content from displaying in your feeds; create a filter too not show nsfw. |
| * To not see a particular account, use the mute or block features found in the menu of the post. |
| * Ensure Hide media marked as sensitive is turned on in your account Preferences. |
| * Hate, Fascist, Violence, etc. type of instances/accounts will be suspended immediately when found. Hate speech is not free speech |

| These posts will only be visible to those who are following you. | |

Interacting with posts
| Reply: | Reply to the toot! (Depends on original post security) |
| Boost: | Boost a toot and share with your followers! (Public) |
| Favourite: | Like a toot! (Only seen by poster) |
| Share: | Sharing a toot; like via text message. |
| Mute: | Mute the account from your timelines. |
| Block: | Block the account from your timelines. |
| Report: | Send the administrator a report on this toot to silence or suspend their account or instance. |
| Block Domain: | Block the instance from your timelines. |

Terms of Service
Be Kind and Harm None!
(Example: It is acceptable to call out a political group and associate them with evil groups that they belong to. It is not acceptable to call a person directly the same; please use the report and blocking features if a person is acting as such towards you. It is also not acceptable for a person to take offense of a statement towards a political group or any chosen associations, as being a part of a political group (or association) is a choice and you are not born that way, you choose that way and can also choose to mute or block the post or individuals!)
No harassment, dogpiling or doxxing of other users; take a break and regroup.

Sensitive Media Rules
Please do not follow any instances with hate, conspiracy theories, etc. (like the wrinkled circus peanut's instance or meta's instances). These instances will be banned from OTO immediately.
Instance Duties!
Active moderation against racism, sexism, homophobia and transphobia
Users must have the confidence that they are joining a safe space, free from white supremacy, anti-human, and transphobia of other platforms.
Commitment to give users at least 3 months of advance warning in case of shutting down
Sometimes services shut down, it is the cycle of life. But users must have the confidence that their account will not disappear overnight, so that they have time to export their data and find another server.
